English Snuggery Meets Crêperie Wine Bar
The name of this establishment is so very British—The Duck & Bunny—but the menu has always had crêpes as well as cupcakes, wine as well as tea. Owners Daniel and Jessica Becker subtitled their eatery a “snuggery,” when they opened almost six years ago (and more recently opened Ogie’s Trailer Park in Providence). That term indicates a cozy haven where you can sip and sup your way through D & B’s daily brunch or an afternoon tea (including scones with Devonshire cream) or a dinner of savory crêpes or a plate of their housemade cupcakes. They have also spun off some fun and delicious crêpe variations. There’s the “crêperito” with black beans and guacamole; the crêpioli, with seasonal veggies; and three crêpecinni with different sauces. All are housemade, with wine pairings suggested; for the New York System crêpe, however, the recommended beverage is coffee milk.
They make tantalizing homemade cupcakes—red velvet, a unique carrot cake, chocolate peanut butter and even bacon scented. The D & B also does cheesecakes, pies, cookies, special-occasion cakes and full-blown weddings on the patio. But for the winter months, it’s the perfect spot to snuggle into one of the large armchairs next to the fireplace with a fleece lap blanket and a cup of hot tea. That’s snug indeed!
